Hi Everyone! Glad to be back. We finally got cable and internet in our new digs in New York. So glad now….I wasn’t sure what was going on in the world but I am glad to know the world is still going, lol. It has been a long journey, but we are getting settled into our new home. I am excited to be here. It was a rough journey though. All in all, it took us a week total to get to our final destination. Traveling as such, can make staying healthy a challenge. I am happy to say I made it work. Instead of stopping at fast food restaurants for meals we headed to the nearest grocery store for healthy meals and snacks. It isn’t as convenient as going through a drive thru, but it made for a little exercise and gave us a chance to take potty breaks and stretch our legs. While traveling from the good ole south to damn near Canada, I noticed a lot more places to get coffee. I had always heard bad things about coffee, but with all the traveling we were doing, I figured I would give it a try to give me a good pick me up. So I tried it……….and it was good. Damn good. I really enjoyed it. But I must admit I felt a little ashamed because I felt like a cheated on my tea addiction. But I got over it :). I really take joy in knowing what the food I put in my body does for me. So to google I went. So it turns out that my preconceived notions that I had about coffee were off course. Coffee (black of course) can be a great addition to a healthy diet. Everything in moderation though.
Some of the benefits of coffee include lower risk of cancer and type 2 diabetes. I wasn’t aware that coffee had a load of antioxidants….but it does. Coffee also has diuretic properties which means we go to the potty more (yea I say potty…hey I have two young kids!). This assists in water weight. This got on my husband’s nerves as we were on a road trip and I had to go every hour.
To me, coffee/tea drinking and water drinking on road trips are beneficial for your health. The caffeine can give your metabolism that needed boost, especially since you will need it from not burning off calories from sitting/driving in a car. Check out The Fat Burning Furnace for great information on coffee and weight loss. Another great source on the coffee and weight loss is FitDay.com. Remember to drink it black if possible. If you must add something try healthy alternatives like unsweetened almond milk or soy. I like to add stevia and Ultra Ginko Plus. For better results, drink lots of water in addition to tea and coffee.
Till Next Time…..if only I know how to work the coffee maker I have on my kitchen counter (yea I was frontin).
