This past weekend, I got the opportunity to run my first mommy and daughter 5K. Well, it was not specifically for mothers and daughters, but I ran it with my daughter, so for me it was. Though I was sooooo exhausted after the race (I had to carry her on my back the latter half but more on that later), I had a wonderful time with her.I couldn’t believe she talked the WHOLE time though. It took us 45 minutes to finish it, and not one second of those 45 minutes did she stop talking. She was just so excited! Whether she was describing the scenery and the people running or trash talking because she is so competitive (I don’t know where she gets that from lol), she TALKED. This would explain the fact that you got so winded half way through. We finished the race with her on my back, which I didn’t mind at all. I was just happy to spend some quality time with her doing something that was good for both of us. I get so wrapped up in work and taking care of the house that it was nice to spend some time, just her and I. I was just so happy that we did it together.
I am so happy that I can share my passion for exercise and fitness with my kids. Teaching my kids how to be active is really important to me. My children’s health is really important to me and to them. Giving them the tools to sustain being active and healthy are imperative to a rich and fulfilling life. So many of us try to get healthy and fit later in our lives when it really becomes a problem. I know I did! But if we can teach our children now, it will be second nature when the grow into adulthood. Not one parent wants to see their children suffer from health problems that result from obesity or other diseases. We all want the same for our kids. We want them to grow up and be successful, strong and healthy. In order for them to do that, we must teach them and provide them with the right tools to do so.
