The Powers of Green Tea

The Powers of Green Tea

Ahhh!  I love green tea.  Do you all know the wonders of green tea?  I think this is one of the best drinks a busy mom can consume besides water of course.  Green tea is how I start my mornings.  For a busy mom like me, it is pretty convenient and an easy way to stay    healthy.  One of the most important things we can do as moms is to stay healthy so we can take care of everyone else.  That is one of the first things I do in the mornings.  Before waking up the kids or even starting on breakfast, I turn on the stove heat up that water in my glass tea pot and slice me a lemon.  By the time I am done getting the kids dressed, teeth brushed, and faces washed my tea is ready to be steeped. I put my green tea bag in the my tea cup before I start cooking breakfast. I have everything ready for my tea the night before so it is less hectic in the morning.  Once I have finished with breakfast, my tea is ready to be consumed.

Yes good ‘ol green tea.  Green tea is one of the things I used to help me shed the baby weight.  It was the easiest things I could do for myself.  Not only does it aid in weight loose but it has some many other health benefits as well.  Some of them include slowing the onset of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, fend off infections, and reduces risk of cancer.  At the risk of sounding really vain, it even slows down the aging process and can promote clearer skin.  That is a biggy for me.  Another way you can use green tea is as a face toner.  Yes a face toner.  I don’t know about you but I rather use something I made on my skin vs. something that was made in a factory that uses all sort of harmful chemicals that can cause toxicity in the body.  Which by the way can lead to a bigger belly….but I digress.  As a mommy it is hard to keep your looks up because you are always on the go.  But green tea is one easy thing you can do for yourself.

Making a Green tea toner

To make a green tea toner simply steep a few bags of tea (depends on what size batch you are making) and that’s it!  This way is always better than buying facial products that claim to have green tea in them.  This way you really know the potency of the green tea vs. just the one 1% of green tea they might use in the products.  Also, you can squeeze a fresh lemon in the toner as well.  This will promote a brighter complexion!

Remember ladies, we shouldn’t feel bad for taking care of our looks just because we are mommies!  We can still be sexy too.

  2. Thanks for the toner idea! Have you ever used matcha green tea powder? It has 10x the antioxidants.

    • I have and I have mixed matcha green tea in my face mask. I experienced good results. Where I live it really hard to find though. I also like to use it for baking. Thanks for commenting!
