Unattainable Perfection

Unattainable Perfection

Today, I wanted to take some time to talk about some struggles I have with my health and fitness goals.  No one is perfect and practice doesn’t ALWAYS makes perfect when it comes to a lifestyle.  I never really liked that phrase, “practice makes perfect”, because in my opinion being perfect is sometimes really hard to define.  Perfection can be a matter perception.  Besides, is there anything that is perfect?  I am by no means perfect when it comes to diet and exercise.  I have been dealing with a lot lately, so I have been falling back into familiar territory.  If you read my post, “My Secret Addiction…Peanut Butter”, then you know I love peanut butter and raw almond butter.  They are my comfort foods.  Now, they are not unhealthy foods but when eaten to excess they can be.  And that is what I do.  I like to eat it out of the jar with a spoon while running after my kids.  You know it is bad when you realize you ate the whole jar.  I have been known to eat a whole jar in a matter of 3 days.  Yea, I know it is pretty bad.  But I am aware of this, and I make efforts to address the problem.  To me, that is better than striving for something that is unattainable, perfection.  The better thing to do is strive for awareness.  Be aware of EVERYTHING.  Ignorance to yourself is not going to get you to your goals.  Knowing that the reason I put on 3 lbs is because I ate that jar of peanut butter, not because my exercise routines aren’t working.

I think the most important thing to remember is that no one is perfect.  Again I say, perfection is really someone’s own perception (gotta reiterate that).  So just because you and I are not perfect when it comes to exercise and fitness doesn’t mean we should give up.  It means we need to be aware of what we are doing and realize what it is.  Whether it is stress, comfort, depression, taste, etc.  Become aware, address it and find a solution.  This will get you on the road to unattainable perfection lol.  We have to realize we will go through ups and downs just like everything in life but never give up.  Life is about never giving up.  We wouldn’t get anywhere if we did.

Till Next Time…..if you fall off the horse, get back on.  We all fall off, are you going to be the one that gets back on?
