Building muscle is essential to eliminate fat stores and to prevent certain parts of our bodies from sagging. Who wants saggy arms or a saggy booty? Muscle building is what gives us that toned body that we dream about. Of course nutrition is more important than exercise to obtain those toned arms and legs. One food that can help you achieve it is cottage cheese. Who knew you could eliminate cottage cheese with cottage cheese?
I remember tasting cottage cheese for the first time as a kid. They were giving away samples in the grocery store. As a kid, the free food samples made going to the grocery store with mom less painful. One of those free samples was cottage cheese. Now if you know my mom at all (which you don’t), you would know that we were in the grocery store for a minute (very long time). So when I saw that sample of food that looked like yogurt, I got excited. But after tasting it, I was not excited at all. That was one of the worst tasting foods I had ever tasted. Little did I know at the time, the benefits of such a food.
One of the major benefits of this dairy food is that is low in fat and carbs, and high in protein. Cottage cheese has about 80 calories and 15 grams of protein per serving. It is also a good source of calcium which is essential for us ladies, since osteoporosis is so prevalent in women. I recently added this food into my diet because of the benefits. I wasn’t sure if I could get past the taste, but I have found some creative ways, on my own and from others, on how to enjoy this food.
Here are a few….
Buckwheat waffles with peanut butter and cottage cheese and strawberries. I like to make it like a sandwich. I know it sounds weird but it tastes really good and is healthy.
Cottage cheese and strawberries or peaches (any kind of fruit) with cinnamon, nutmeg and stevia. This a really good quick light snack.
Cottage cheese with celery. This is also great for the kids too. My kids love to use dipping sauces. Be creative too. You can add mustard and other condiments to fit your taste.
Scrambled eggs with some cottage cheese mixed with salsa topping.

You can also use cottage cheese as a healthy alternative to sour cream. And the best things about it is that it isn’t expensive at all for those of us on a budget! So don’t walk past the cottage cheese in the grocery store. Get creative and eat this healthy food.
Till Next Time….try cottage cheese whipped!
